Jesus Wept
When you are nearing the end of a project, getting down to the nuts and bolts, researching every last detail, making sure it all meshes, well, when you are doing this, it is not the time to start doubt the validity of the undertaking. I guess not anyway. I mean, of course I am looking for any excuse not to work on the damn thing, but I do wonder what it is I think I'm doing. Blog as story? Where the hell would I publish such a thing? Who would want it? How is the reality of it going to work? If it is already online, there is no incentive for anyone to take it. Just putting it online (not worrying about getting it in a mag) does nothing, as no one would see it, and even if they did, they would just think it was one more shitty blog and never suspect it is, in its enirety, a carefully constructed fiction. So how do I submit it places? I have no idea. But why should I worry about such things before it is even completed? Because it is almost completed.
Then again, a dude in my workshop said a dirty word. A filthy, dirty word that caused everyone to turn and give him the evil eye. "marketability" He said "marketability" in reference to short shorts, how he thought they had none, the implication being it's not worthwhile to create them.
So, ok, back to work on my project that may well be futile.

There is a market for all sorts of stuff, this is why old MTV was much better than the crap they have now. I think your job as artist is to concentrate on making whatever it is you are making. It is implicit in this endeavour that you have faith that you have an audience. Categorizing, marketing, etc. is not your job.
